Covid has been an issue for over a year now - the government however has issued a roadmap to counter this. In this article I will summarise it and give a response to this roadmap with a quote.

The first step is implemented on the 8th of march; children will go back to school with frequent testing for secondary school and university students. Regarding social contact people will also be allowed to meet up with one another person outside. On the 29th of March outdoor gatherings of two households or 6 people are permitted. As well as this, outdoor sport facilities will reopen and people will be allowed to use them under formal organization.

The second step is on the 12th of April; the government has launched a taskforce to issue a report on travel for this date. In addition, non essential retail, personal care, indoor leisure and more will reopen. Step 3 on the 17th of May will see restrictions on people outdoors being lifted (although over 30 is still illegal) and allowing the rule of 6 or two households indoors. Also, indoor entertainment facilities will re-open and events such as weddings can hold up to 30 people.

Finally on the 21st of June all restrictions on social contact will be lifted. Nightclubs will re-open and restrictions will be eased on large-scale events. Here is what Freddie Tranter, 11, thinks on this roadmap, “I believe that transparency the government is showing to us is good however I don’t think it’s right to pinpoint certain dates due to the unreliability of the covid situation regarding testing and infection rates.”
