As Christmas is quickly approaching, the students of The Henrietta Barnett School staged a spectacular performance of the notable play: “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens with their own musical twist on it invoking laughter, tears and for some even fear in the audience.

The story is based around a man learning to love and accept the spirit of Christmas and despite him being a grumpy middle-aged man, the teenage girl who performed him captured his personality completely. The entire cast displayed their talent throughout the play with their own amazing choreography, excellent acting which enraptured the whole audience and even an original song which the students wrote themselves which wowed everyone watching.

The actors themselves enjoyed rehearsing and putting this play together. Violeta in Year 10, who was in the choir said that she “really enjoyed the process and [she] feel that all the effort payed off”. Another actor was Tatum also in Year 10 believed that “even though everyone spent hours on this play, [she] thinks that it was worth it”.

A large part if the success of this play was due to the musical aspect with wonderful singers, live music, well-known carols as well as original music. To tie this all together, there was a beautiful choir which contributed to the performance fantastically and made the music and songs even better.

As a member of the audience myself, I was immensely entertained and enjoyed myself very much with the interactive song and the snow that they filled the stage with, covering both the actors and the audience.

Overall, this play was definitely the event everyone was looking forward to and it did not disappoint anyone with their splendid performance. It will be extremely hard to top this year’s play, next year.
