What is Brexit? Brexit, an abbreviated word for "British exit", is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. There was a vote whether we should stay or leave on June 23, 2016, this was called the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum.

How does it affect teenagers? There are many pros and cons of this and many of these directly impact the younger generation. This topic has been very popular since 2016 but this topic has caused a stir this year. As we get closer and closer to Brexit more and more people want to remain in the EU.

Leaving the EU will mean that many teenagers may not have very many options relation the education.  Since the UK is one of the more expensive places to study, several UK citizens who may not be able to or can not afford it. This leads them to choose to study at cheaper universities in other countries. As of now, more than 20,000 British students study in Europe as part of the Erasmus scheme. However now that Britan is leaving EU, this scheme may not be offered to them, and citizens will then have to pay higher fees and apply for costly visas in order to study abroad.

Furthermore, teenagers education is not the only thing that is affected due to Brexit.Initially, it was thought that only 36% of teenagers between 18-24 voted however as time went on it was found out that it was almost twice that, this means up to 70% of teenagers had opted to remain in the EU. This is compared to 90% of older people who voted to leave.

This result impacts the opportunity for living and working abroad in places like France, Spain, and Italy as leaving EU may result in these kinds of opportunities to go away.

Teenagers have also grown up with them being part of Europe and profiting from the luxuries that come with being in EU.

Laving the EU will mean that UK citizens will  require needing a visa to go abroad, however, this is restricting travelling opportunities and the effect on the social connection between the British and our EU counterparts are probably over exaggerated.

Leaving the EU will impact teenagers and these are only a couple of ways that leaving the EU will impact the younger generation.
