Monologue Slam, is an annual acting competition held at the Norwood School in November. It is a good competition for shy students to perform in a friendly crowd and stage their acting skills, students ranging from year 7 to 11 can apply wether you are a skilled actor/actress or a nervous beginner. Monologue Slam is a great experience for students as they are able to get insiteful advice from experienced 6th formers and specialised teachers and gain confidence by acting infront of parents and peers. In addition to that, the winner wins a prize of £50.

I interviewed Chenelle Clarke, a Monologue Slam finalist, to get an insight as to what it is like to be part of the competition.

Me: How did it feel to be performing on your own infront of a crowd of parents and peers?

Chenelle: It felt really nerve-racking, because everyone was watching me however after a while I felt more comfortable on the stage.

Me: Do you think that participating in Monologue Slam is a good experience?

Chenelle: Definitey! I would recommend all aspiring actors to take part in it because, even if you don't win you still learn alot from watching other people and recieving feedback.

Finally, Chenelle told me that Monologue Slam is a great show to watch aswell. Tickets are only £3 for kids and £5 for adults. So next year if you're looking for something for something fun and interesting to watch come to the Norwood School and watch Monologue Slam!
