What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear Monolgue Slam? Is it Hamlet and Lady Macbeth battling against each other with their notoriously famous speeches ? Or perpahps two boxers in a ring; instead of fighting using the power of language . Well infact , Monolgue slam is one of many exciting perfomaces at The Norwood School where student so can show off their drama skills by performing a 1-3 minute Monologue. Monolgue slam has a range of students from year 7 , all the way to sixth form all battling to win a £50 prize for their key stage group - runners up win £20 and £10 . Monolgue slam was such an amazing event and I’m grateful to say i was apart of it! It took a lot of hard work to prepare for the final upcoming show such as : learning my monologue and researching the contextual, background information to get into character , rehearsing after school on the theatre stage with the lights and my costume . Overall Monolgue slam was a success as we had such a supportive audiences with family, friends and staff, everything was smooth sailing with no technical difficulties and everyone’s produced such an ourstanding performance with the night filled with monologues from many genres from comedy’s to serious topic. Even though I did not win , Monolgue slam was an unforgettable night adding to my secondary school experience at The Norwood School . I wanna say a massive well done to the winners and everyone who took part and a thank you to the teachers who organised it and the Sixth formers who helped put ; sacrificing their free time
