On the 3rd and 4th November, a fabulous fireworks festival was held at Alexandra Palace. The annual bonfire night festival returned with: a display of lasers-a half hour show, and dazzling fireworks-which previously roared above 20ft high, set with a soundtrack by DJ Yoda; the original, London’s sparkling skyline; a breath-taking bonfire; a live music tent and plenty of appetising street food.

The colourful display show was preceded by a passionate parade, which told the story of the rising phoenix from ashes, it included: fire eaters, fire jets, animatronics, dancers and drummers. Also for younger children, there were ride attractions and an ice rink, which costs an additional amount on top of: £11-adult tickets, £8.50-11 to 15 year olds (and free for under 10’s).

Many people across London, but mostly North Londoners, travel to the Palace for a tremendous time on Guy Fawkes Night. Meena, a lady who had recently attended the festival, had quoted “every year this show just gets better”.

This festival has been a yearly tradition, as bonfires are lit all around London, due to celebrating the thanksgiving of the gunpowder’s plot’s failure. This plot, had arisen on the 5th November 1605 and was a failed assassination attempt against King James I of England and VI of Scotland, by a group of provincial English Catholics led by Robert Catesby. The night this occurred is known as ‘Guy Fawkes Night’ or ‘Bonfire Night’. Guy Fawkes was a member of the Gunpowder plot and was arrested upon guarding explosives, the plotters had placed beneath the Parliament. Therefore this night is an annual commemoration, which has developed incredulously throughout the years.

Alexandra Palace is one of the biggest, well-known displays in London and is known to be an unforgettable experience. It is a family event, which takes place every year, (near to Guy Fawkes Night). Everyone who witnesses this spectacular performance has plenty of fun and enjoys it deeply.
