EXCITING NEW ESCAPE ROOM EMERGES AMIDST LOCKDOWN

Coronavirus lockdowns have us isolating in our homes and racking up screen time. Hours we usually spend in cars, shopping malls or with friends are now spent indoors — in front of our TVs, computers and smartphones. And for all escape-room lovers, lockdown was a huge blow, which meant escape rooms around the world quickly closed down.  But ‘The Pegasus Project’ offers a different sort of entertainment, with a virtual escape room experience so realistic, it’s been named one of the best right now!

The Pegasus Project revolves around 3 scientists who died from a mysterious accident a few months ago, officially from an accident at a company called SpiderTechnologies. Another agent, who was investigating their deaths, was injured just a few days ago. The role of the players is to uncover the truth behind the death of these scientists and to unravel the secrets of SpiderTechnologies...

To find out more about the Pegasus Project, I asked a group of young people how they rated their virtual experience.

“It was fantastic,” said Sayanen (a Year 10 student at Tiffin School). “The Pegasus Project Escape Room allowed me to have an adventure without having to leave the comfort of my room. My friends and I looked for clues and searched different buildings using a 3D floor plan.”

Another student, Armaan Khan, agreed. “It was a thrilling experience, as if I was participating in a real life crime scene. I think it was really entertaining, especially during lockdown, when we can’t go outside.”

“Maybe one of the things that could be improved is the layout of the game.”

“Some elements of the game were quite puzzling,” said both Sayanen and Armaan, when I asked for any possible improvements to the game. “It wasn’t a major problem in all honesty, but the way some of the resources were displayed could have been much clearer. But then again, it’s a mystery game, and it’s supposed to be disoriented. Otherwise it wouldn’t be half as fun!”

There has been some debate over the age recommendation of the Pegasus Project on different sites. Some have suggested that it shouldn’t be recommended to those younger than 10, while others have no problems with age.

“Opening clip was quite violent, so I would recommend it to an older age group. I would definitely recommend it to my friends, since it’s an experience worth sharing.”

In conclusion, based on my interview, for all those escape roomers, ‘The Pegasus Project’ is definitely worth a try! There’s a good level of mystery, it’s relatively challenging, especially for those participating in low numbers.
