I am sure we can all agree that during this pandemic it is very easy to lose motivation. Mental health problems continue to be on the increase as we spend prolonged periods of time indoors. Yet, a challenge has been set in a search for individuals who are inspiring and deserve recognition for their efforts; this could be anything from recovering from a health condition to being a frontline worker or helping out family members who need it. The challenge has been set by Ant and Dec to feature in their newest series of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Anyone wanting to take part must submit videos via Tik Tok and through a link on their website with the hashtag Happiest Minute Heroes. The winners will receive a prize (which has not been revealed yet) and will be featured in the show. The hashtag currently has 141.5 million views on Tik Tok, a social media site.

I interviewed one user of the site to see what their opinions on the competition were. This is what they had to say on the matter, “I think this competition is very inspiring and just what we need right now to encourage us to be more motivated. I have watched videos for several entries and have found that they are all very heart-warming and feature many individuals who definitely deserve to be recognised for their efforts. I am considering entering myself, on behalf of someone that I know personally to give them a chance of winning. I think this competition is great and I can’t wait to find out who wins!”.

Go to itv.com/heroes to find out more and to submit entries if you would like to take part. I admire all competitors for their outstanding achievements and good luck to all who take part!
