This February saw the first snowfall of 2021. Since it doesn't snow very often in London, lots of people like to go outside when it does snow. Indeed, when it snowed this month, many people went on walks with their family, built snowmen, or used toboggans to slide down hills. The snow appeared on the weekend, allowing people to go outside and enjoy it more so than if it had been a weekday. However, there are also some dangers of snow since it can be very slippery. This becomes more of an issue after a few days when the snow becomes ice, making it even more slippery. This can be problematic for both pedestrians and drivers, although in populated areas, grit salt is put on the road surfaces so that the snow melts, rather than forming ice. In addition to this, it was extremely cold and the temperature sunk below 0 degrees celsius, which is a rarity even at this time of year. In total, there were two instances of snowfall this February, one of which lasted a couple of days.

The snow seems to be particularly popular among children and young people, rather than adults. For example, Juliette Bentley, who is 8 years old, enjoys the snow and spent both snow days this month outside. She said, 'It was very cold and I built a snowman with my brother and I went for a walk in my local park. I like the snow because it is fun to play in it but sometimes it can be a bit too cold.'
