2020 was a year of pure madness and chaos however what didn’t stop, was the gaming industry. In this article what will be discussed is what games made an impact this year and ultimately what was the best game of 2020.
On March the 10th 2020 Call of Duty Warzone was released for Xbox One, PS4 and Microsoft Windows. This game was the newest release of the Call of Duty series. It was picked up by many Youtubers and Twitch streamers and is free to play which allowed it to become widely played throughout the year.
Another initially huge release was Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout on August 4th; it too was very popular and picked up by many gamers and through August remained very popular. However by September this year many players started to lose interest in the game due to the lack of updates and the fact that it was only released on PC and Playstation.
It was quickly overtaken by arguably the biggest success story of 2020: Among Us. Among Us was released in 2018 based on the drama game, Mafia, in which the majority of a group try to find out the ‘imposters’ without knowledge of who is who. It was released on Mobile as well as PC and is free.
Obviously there were many other popular games this year however I would say Among Us would be a key contender for the most popular due to the number of players it gained in a short amount of time. We will see what happens with gaming in 2021!
