If there’s anything we need more of now, it’s a break from reality. A split second, where we are in an ultimate universe. No masks, no distancing. An actual life. We deserve it to ourselves, don’t you think? To pretend we are there in that fantasy world, sliding into fictional characters we so greatly identify with.

A show like this is Bridgerton, a netflix original series set in the regency-era, offering the greatest of escapism. With the costumes, the flirtatious hate/love romance and the comedy, it’s a show you didn’t think you needed, but it’s too hard to not like. It is a good amount of light heartedness and is well worth watching to escape our current crisis even rotten tomatoes agrees and rates it 98%.

BBC has got just the right amount of shows with BBC 1’s Black Narcissus starring Gemma Arterton, a thriller/ drama, who wouldn’t want to watch nuns repressed with desire and a chilling, intriguing storyline? The scenery filmed is worth seeing even if the plot starts slowly. Lucy Mangan a reviewer from the Guardian says: ‘While the performances are strong, this new adaptation about mysterious goings-on at a convent school lacks suspense.’ But it is still worth checking out.

BBC’s His Dark Materials based on the miraculous novels by Phillip Pullman is the best fantasy series BBC has done, it’s a show transforming the audience to multiple parallel universes. The show combines many Pullman books so the plot is never disappointing and has a fiery, brave young girl- Lyra as the protagonist to root for. It has the best type of villain, an extremely complex one Mrs Coulter (Ruth Wilson), who’s glamour doesn’t seem to outshine her inhumane and evil nature. If you crave a new world and storyline, His dark materials is for you.
