The Argentinian soccer legend is one of the most influential footballers of this generation.His death wouldve struck a united feeling of melancholy due to his influence and how everyone knew him or of him.People of his nation are defininetly left with a feeling of emptiness since he was seen as a national treasyre to them!

Childhood & Early Life

Diego Maradona was born to 'Chitoro' Diego Maradona and ‘Doa Tota’ Dalma Salvadora Franco. He has three elder sisters and two younger brothers. His family was a close knit one but suffered from poor financial condition.

He took to playing soccer from a very tender age. His phenomenal talent soon caught the attention of a talent scout who inducted him in Los Cebollitas, the junior team of Buenos Aires's Argentinos Juniors.

He led Los Cebollitas to a 136-unbeaten streak, displaying his prodigious capability and talent! He made his professional debut for the senior team shortly before his 16th birthday.

Life After Soccer

The problems that plagued Maradona later in his playing career continued after his retirement. He was hospitalized for heart problems in 2000 and 2004, the second time requiring the use of a respirator to breathe properly, and the following year he underwent gastric-bypass surgery.

Despite the public disappointments, Maradona remained beloved in Argentina as a native son who rose from humble beginnings to reach the apex of stardom on an international stage.

Maradona unfortunately suffered from a lot of controversy and rumours due to personal problems contininuing to fester in Italy. He was using cocaine and received $70,000 in fines from his club for missing game and practices. He was also involved in a scandal regarding an illegitimate son and was suspected to be friendly with the Camorra, an Italian mafia-type criminal organization.
