On Wednesday the 7th of October, at 5.30pm, a 15-year-old girl was on her way home from school. Whilst walking, she turned down an alleyway off of The Causeway near East Finchley. Here she found three men smoking.

The girl recounted that the men followed her, before then grabbing her and holding her up against the wall. One of the men sexually assaulted her and then pulled his trousers down. Fortunately, the attackers were then disturbed by a man who turned down the alleyway, and the group ran off. The man then walked the victim to East Finchley station and made sure she got on a bus.

Police are actively appealing for any eyewitnesses to come forward, including the man who helped, as they say an interview with him could reveal vital information which would help them to identify the three attackers.

The man who helped was described as a white man estimated to be approximately 40 years old. He had slim build, was wearing sports trousers and carrying a blue bag. “ He looked like he may have been going to the gym." A police spokesman reported.

The police spokesperson added: "The suspects are described as black males, aged in the mid-to-late teens and wearing black school trousers.”

PC Mary Fenton of the North West Safeguarding Team said: "I would like to reassure the community that these types of incidents are extremely rare and my team and I are working on all lines of enquiry to identify those responsible.”
