What is HS2?

Known commonly as HS2, High speed 2 is a high speed train network designed to link London to the North of England. This would bring a whole host of benefits and improve the lives of many. The trains are apparently able to reach over 250 miles per hour, and could potentially almost cut journey times in half.

So, considering all this, why do people oppose HS2?

Well, such a large train line is bound to have an effect on the environment. HS2 would cut through countless acres of countryside, destroying the habitats of many thousands of animals, as well as spoiling the environment around it and leading to extensive noise pollution for those unlucky to live next to the track. Another con of HS2 is that hundreds of people would be forced to sell their houses to make way for the line. HS2 has the power to permanently alter our landscape.
