Who is said to be one of the world’s greatest football player of all time, Diego Maradona, an Argentina football legend, had sadly passed away at the age of 60, on Wednesday 25th of November 2020. He had suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest and was then left in a serious condition. Earlier that month Maradona was hospitalised after undergoing a successful surgery for a blood clot in the brain.
At the age of 17, Diego Maradona played in the World Youth Championship, 1979. Argentina had evidently won, destroying Poland (4-1) and Indonesia (5-0), with Diego Maradona scoring 3 of the goals. In the quarter-finals, Argentina had thrashed Algeria (5-0) and then the Soviet Union (3-1).
21 years ago, on Tuesday 25th of November 1997, was ironically when Diego Maradona had officially hung up his boots. After his final professional match for Boca Juniors against River Plate, winning (2-1).
