During the late stages of August rolling into the early dates of September, Peckham Town Football Club participated in a competitive tournament. The club played a series of matches against other clubs such as Forestdale- where in this match they won 3-0.Left back Amari defended his teams goal, ensuring that the opposition had minimal opportunities to score. It was a very highly charged match where each team continuously fought for the ball attempting to become victorious -however Peckham Town’s U9 team were the overall winners of the match.
Many parents were left emotional and proud of their sons: one parent named Samara said “I was so excited and emotional ; I felt as though i was going to cry” .It is clear from her statement how overjoyed she was and how this event was such an important moment for her and her son to share. As well as her son Amari was filled with pure excitement as he stated “I was the most excited on the team, even the coach said it!”which shows how ecstatic he was due to the team's victory.
This football club could be very beneficial to young kids who aspire to be Pro Footballers as it allows children to compete in real life games, such as Peckham Town vs Forestdale ,at a low stake.This means that it is not necessarily a huge deal if the players lose a couple matches as these games allow the players to better themselves at football. Overall these matches give the young players an idea of what their own experience would be if they pursued a football career in the future.
