A picture containing outdoor, water, grass, small Description automatically generatedIn these two photos, the peaceful nature of the Mersea Island landscape and its salt marshes are shown. Located on the East Coast of England, Mersea Island is an island completely cut off and inaccessible at high tide, however, at lower tides you can cross over the marshes and channels onto the island.

Inhabited since pre-roman times the island is known mainly for its seafood industry, producing the likes of oysters among other fish. The surrounding of the island by the estuary of River Blackwater and the waters of the North Sea provide a much different landscape and scenery to that of the urbanised London.

In the two photos seen above the salt marshes can be seen leading out from a field onto the sea. In the second photo a sliver of a shingle beach can be spotted. The sea is a beautiful blue colour and stretches out until the horizon. The single dead tree in each photo portrays the emptiness of the landscape but it also shows the openness and the freedom of the countryside.

In the first picture it looks as if the moon is resting on the tree, trying to show the link between the natural land and the sky, this once again reinforces the natural freeness of this landscape and the island in general. In conclusion, I think the two photos above very well represent the calming nature of Mersea Island.
