A Sweet Sixteen Stuck Inside:

Like many other unfortunates, my birthday took place under quarantine. This meant that, the birthday party that many of my friends’ had and the one I was dreaming of since I saw the movie “16 Wishes” (which played on Disney Channel in 2010), I was unable to have.

However, all hope was not lost when, I decided to make the best of the fact that, although we were all stuck at home; we were all healthy. This is a blessing which, in this dire situation, many people are not able to claim. With this in mind, I decided to get dressed up in my house, as if it was to be my party. This would then mean that, all though it was not the original plan, I was able to enjoy the ‘party’. I decorated my house, with balloons and the like, just as if my party was going ahead.

Instead of going the whole of my birthday with no human contact (other than the people stuck in these four walls with me) I decided to create a FaceTime group call with the likes of my friends and my close family. This allowed me to see some familiar faces in a serious time and enjoy my birthday as much as I could.

Many celebrities have also celebrated their ‘locked in’ birthday in this way, with the likes of Anne Marie (who did a live stream for her birthday) and Jessie J.

All in all, this tough time is showing that we don’t need to go out to have fun and for me, this birthday ‘party’ will always be one to be remembered.
