Netflix takes over self-isolation
I can guess you’re are stuck in self isolation, contemplating all of the fun you’ve missed out on during this tricky time. Well, what assures me to stay happy, is that there is always a good movie or tv show to sink your teeth into during quarantine; I mean who wouldn’t want to watch a cinematic masterpiece to keep themselves occupied? This is where Netflix comes in handy, and I am going to give you the top 5 things (not in order) to binge your heart away at, during isolation.
I am not okay with this: This teen coming-of-age show evolves around the life of a 17-year-old teenager, as she comes to terms with growing up and friends; whilst also struggling with the fear she is dealing with supernatural powers. Netflix intertwines a variety of eras into this show,
creating a sense of nostalgia, from both vintage America and England.
The Perks of Being A Wallflower: Set in the 1990s, this mesmerising movie is based on a young adult coming-of-age novel. The movie follows an introverted teen, called Charlie through his freshman year of high school. You truly get captivated by the beauty of this film, and the underlying story that runs through it. Get ready to enjoy a great soundtrack, cry, laugh and smile along with these great characters.
Sex Education: This is a British show evolving the lives of teenagers at Collage, and how they discover relationship and sexual issues. This is where awkward, local boy, Otis comes in handy with starting up sex therapy for his classmates. It’s more than a comedic show; it really brings up modern day issues in society and portrays them in a way which allows teenagers to not feel like they’re alone with growing up.
Stranger Things: A perfect 80s fanatic series…but with a twist. The supernatural. Stranger things take’s place in Hawkins, Indiana and surrounds the friendship of 4 boys, who come in contact with a girl who shows powers that have never been seen before. This series really showcases the 80s, the music, style and scenery; and with already three seasons of; what’s not to like?
Call Me by Your Name: Now this film is one which you can get completely lost in; the characters, the plot and the scenery. It takes place in 1980s, northern Italy and follows the blossoming romance between 17 year old, Elio and a 24 year old American student, who comes to stay at their scenic home in Italy. The whole way this film is shot draws you into it, the angles and the views of a summer in Italy. It’s a masterpiece which can be watched over and over without any sense of boredom.
