A man was left seriously injured after four men broke into his house.

Police were called to Hycliffe Gardens, Chigwell, on Tuesday 11th Feb at around 8:30 after four men broke into a house. It was found that the men had climbed over the back wall and wrenched open the locked backdoor. At this point one of the men were discovered by an occupant of the house and gave chase after him through the house. The occupant of the house ran out of the house, and was then beaten with a metal baseball bat four times, leaving him with three broken bones in the left hand and a bleeding arm. After that all four men drove off in a silver saloon-style car.

The man was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital, with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Loughton Police and Forensic Team arrived around the same time and quickly closed in on the scene; however, no fingerprints could be found due to the men having worn gloves. No items have been reported stolen. "We would like to speak to anyone who lives or was driving in the area and has a doorbell camera or dash cam footage," Detective Sgt Neale Parker said."We are also keen to speak to those who were in the area around the time and witnessed any suspicious behaviour.”
