With Brexit having finally occurred, many British citizens are celebrating their freedom from the restraints induced by the European Union.

However, how free are we really from these other countries, and how long can we really survive without a deal with foreign powers?

The answer is that we can’t.

Even though Brexit has liberated us from obeying some of the laws imposed by the EU, Britain has entered a transition period where a new deal is being finalised between us and the European Union.

So what can we learn from Brexit?

Although many of us believe that we are independent and are able to stand on our own two feet, the reality is that we rely on many things from other people, with some things aiding our physical health and others supporting our mental health.

We are reliant on our parents, who provide us with unconditional love, and our relatives, who are always there for us when we need them, and our employers, who provide us with jobs and consequently income, so that we can feed and look after ourselves. These are just a handful of people that we are dependent on, without whom our very existence is at stake.

So let’s take this momentous occasion to not celebrate being free from others, but to congratulate and show our support and gratitude to those who play these important roles in our lives.

As humans, we all love to believe that we are self-sufficient, but if we don’t look at the bigger picture, we’ll be too caught up in this fantasy to truly experience the reality.
