Is the 40 year old Rubik’s cube trend dying?
The Rubik’s Cube, the internationally recognised hard puzzle. Everyone has had one, and everyone has tried to solve one, and you, yes you, have probably failed. But is it really that hard?
On the Rubik’s website there are detailed instructions on how to solve them. Many would say that this is cheating, because it’s a puzzle and you must work to solve it yourself. After all, what would be the point of a puzzle if you didn’t solve it yourself.These people would say that it IS hard to solve a Rubik's cube because that is the nature of the puzzle.
However, since the invention of the Rubik’s cube, it has become more of a “can you solve it” and “how fast can you solve it” thing than a “how do you do it” thing. As a result of this, many people have been going onto Youtube, and looking up “how do you solve a Rubik’s cube” into Google. So, now that a lot of people can solve a Rubik’s cube, it could be considered easy.
So, is it more easy? Maybe not, but there is one thing that the Rubik’s cube trend may just be, and that thing, is dying. Because of how easy it is to access solutions, more and more people can do it, and if everyone knows how to do it, is it dead?
