With community spirit dissolving, a few users of the community app Next Door decided to bring some Christmas cheer and community interaction, with an advent calendar. This 'living' advent calendar couldn't be like any other ones, like the ones you get from Cadbury's paper doors and chocolate if it was going to have a large impact; it had to use teamwork and coordination and of course, embody Christmas. The Tufnell Park Advent Calendar involved 25 houses spread in the area putting displays in their windows for every day of advent.

Unveilings of each 'window' would be social affairs with neighbours uniting and enjoying each others company at the darkest time of the year and spreading cheer.

A Next Door user:

This is such a good idea!

Most people would see a cool idea that looks great but personally, I see a community coming together at a special time of the year to enjoy the community as a whole, a very important message to carry close in darker times. Hopefully this great event can continue for many years to come and inspire other neighbourhoods to come together, especially at Christmas time.
