The definition of success does not mention academic qualifications so why are we told from a young age that in order to be successful in the future that we must achieve exceptional results at school. Many authoritative and successful figures in the public eye exemplify just how false this statement truly is. Rather than studying in order to reach our full potential, we feel the need to study because we think it is necessary for a successful career although people’s time should be spent more wisely working toward their full potential in other avenues other than the academic route. Now, obtaining a good set of GCSE and A level results are important, but they should be seen as stepping- stones towards your future.
Lord Alan Michael Sugar is a British, from Hackney and is a businessman, media personality and politician. He is worth £1.4 million, he is also the star of the apprentice and founder of Amstrad. The majority of the public will recognise Lord Sugar for his great success, but are unaware of the fact that he dropped out of school with just one GCSE. Lord Sugar’s achievement shows just how qualifications do not define your success. He began to make his own money at the young age of 12 years old and his hard work and dedication led him to set up his own business at the age of 21. The reasons behind Lord Sugar’s great accomplishments is due to his drive and willingness to make big changes in his life in order to reach his own goals.
Qualifications do not define your success and success can be expressed through many forms not just through academic results.
