This Is Local London: Trick or Treat --- Celebration for Halloween!

Last Friday, our school held a Halloween party for boarders. Pupils who joined the party had all dressed in costumes and got their faces painted in Halloween styles, we had a competition on dressing, the winner that who was looking the most scary won a box of chocolate. The party was held in the boys houses, we had hot chocolate, marshmallows and many incredible fireworks. Some of us who are above 15 watched the famous scary movie Joker and all of us had enjoyed it.This Is Local London:

--- The origin of Halloween:
Halloween, also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows’ Eve, or All Saints’ Eve. It is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, and this year it occurred on Thursday, October 31.
The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honour all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween.

— The traditions of Halloween:
Halloween activities including trick or treating, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror movies.
