Closing Of Sainsbury's

The beloved Sainsbury's was open for 7 years and was first open in 2011 and recently closed in September 2019. Located in Wealdstone High Street, this supermarket chain sold everything from food to household items and even birthday cards! It was open bright and early at 7 am and closed at 10 pm every single day. Many saw Sainsbury's as a quick stop and shop on the go.

With Sainsbury's being the second largest supermarket chain in the UK, almost everyone knew about it. Sainsbury's is a very old compang that was founded in 1869 as a shop in London by a man named John Sainsbury. They had outlets all around the country but their headquarters are based in London. Michael Coupe is a British business man and CEO of Sainabury's ver since July of 2014. Justin King was the CEO of the supermarket chain after he left the role in 2014. Justin King had been the CEO of Sainsbury's for 10 years before deciding to step down in July 2014.

This supermarket outlwt in Harrow had been exteremly successfull up until this month. I had interviewed a security officer who had been working at Sainsbury's for long time. He had kept a neutral face during the whole interview unlike some members of staff who were simply distraught and some even resulted to crying. When asked why the shop had to close he simply replied with "the shop had lost a lot of money and wasn't making enough profit". I had asked the reason for Sainsbury's not making enough profit and he told me "with new bigger shops opening like Asda and other shops like Iceland, people just aren't buying as much stuff as they used to ".

Iceland had been a major retailer and had been in the Wealdstone area for many years, people shopped there often. However, Asda had opened much more recently than the other 2 outlets and people have started doing their shopping there. This Asda is known for its very cheap prices and very fresh food for low low prices. Many people have decided to take their money and shopping there instead.

Although, this Sainsbury's had something particularly unique about this one shop. They had high quality food and anyone could tell that it was from Sainsbury's. They also had a generous and welcoming staff, who put your needs before theirs. Many Wealdstine cuatomers will miss it dearly and I for one and not surprised. All the other outlets were also impeccable and had great food but there was nothing quite like Sainsbury's.
