Waltham Forest got Talent

In July there will be a talent show at Leyton Great Hall where young people from the ages of 5-24 can perform.

Young people who can sing, dance, rap, do spoken word or poetry can go to the event and perform. They will also get the chance to win prizes such as a £50 voucher to spend at Westfield shopping center and some air pods and also a performing contract. To enter this competition there will be a small fee to pay. For 5-17-year olds there will be a £5 entry fee. For 17-24-year olds the entry fee is £7. Auditions for dancers will be on the 7th of June at One Hoe Street and on the 8th of June singers, rappers and spoken word artists auditions will take place at Waltham Forest Town Hall. Between the first round and the second round there will be professional coaches for each act. For singers they will have Fleur East who was a runner up on the X Factor in 2014 as a coach and other professionals who have worked in the industry.

The Youth Mayor’s team is a young advisory group that helps out with mayoral events. The Mayor councillor Sally LittleJohn asked the Youth Mayor’s team about events that could be put on for young people. She said, “This is very exciting, and I’m really pleased”.

The Youth Mayor’s Team meet with Mayor Sally Littlejohn every week to discuss the talent show. The money raised from the event will go toward the Mayor’s charities, like X 7eaven a dance group that helps young people to express themselves through dance. Final details have not been decided yet.
