Recently, NASA had scheduled their first ever all-female spacewalk. It's safe to say that me and many many other people were excited to see this next advancement for women in a previously (and still) male-dominated field.

The cancellation of the spacewalk came as a disappointment, but NASA didn't share the news in the way that they maybe should've. They announced that they didn't have two medium suits so the spacewalk couldn't happen. This caused outrage and understandable backlash. Why doesn't NASA have two medium suits available?

Hillary Clinton tweeted NASA with the thought we were all thinking - “Make another suit.” but in the end, one of the astronauts, Anne McClain recommended that she wouldn't walk. She could fit a “medium” or a “large” suit, but wasn't comfortable doing such a risky task in a large suit.

This means that NASA wasn't at fault, right? Well, why didn't they have two medium suits available anyway? Why are all the suits modelled around men? Why has it taken this long for an all-female spacewalk to happen, and to be cancelled anyway?

We thought we were making progress, but we have further to go than we thought.
