What is Mother's Day?

Mother's Day is a special time of the year in which we appreciate our mother's. It a special day when we thank our mother's for helping and encouraging us throughout our life.

What do we do during Mother's Day?

During this special occasion, there is a lot to do for them. For example, you can cook something for them, or you can make/buy them a card, gift and etc. Remember it is not about how much you get them, or how expensive or cheap it is, it is about how much effort and love you put into it.

The History of Mother's Day!

The real Mother’s Day holiday began in the 1900s due to the hard work of Anna Jarvis. Anna Jarvis was the daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis. Due to her mother’s death in 1905, Anna Jarvis created Mother’s Day as a way of honouring the sacrifices and help mothers made for their children.

How is Mother's Day celebrated in different countries?

In Thailand, mother's day is celebrated on August 12, this is because it is Sirikit's (Queen of Thailand) birthday. However in Ethiopia during mother's day families get together and sing songs and eat a large feast as part of Antrosht (a multi-day celebration honouring motherhood). In the United States and England, mother's day is celebrated by giving flowers, gifting your mother's and helping them with their household work and doing chores.

Overall, to conclude I hope you understood what Mother's Day is and I hope you will keep your mother's happy. Happy Mother's day!
