Thankfully, we live in a democratic society where people get a say in who runs our country, and for the most part have a large input in major decisions involving our future. However, is even this style of government too restrictive? Too discriminative? Many people struggle to get their voices heard and are intensely unhappy with our government for drowning them out. As well as this, how much do we really know? What goes on behind closed doors? Are we simply being told only what we want to hear? Unfortunately, these are questions I cannot answer, and probably never will be able to. However, recently there have been several marches and protests that have taken place in central London, in response to matters such as climate change and Brexit. People of all ages, and from all over the country came to express their frustration at the complicated Brexit situation, and the climate change marches have allowed the younger generation to speak out against the damage their parents and grandparents generations have done and continue to do. As part of the younger generation myself I find these protests a truly incredible thing, we are often not taken seriously, because of our age and inexperience, but these marches have allowed our voices to be heard and listened to. The question is, although I fully recognise that these protests do unite the people of our country and do get our opinions across, how effective are they actually? Global warming is a huge problem, and the government have been rather quiet on the subject for a while now. Brexit is still a mess, but then again, what else can we do, Surely it is better to do something…..anything, than nothing.
