Child 44 is about MGB agent Leo Demidov’s quest to find the killer terrorising the dreams and thoughts of his inner mind. Set in Stalin’s Soviet Russia, it has such an atmosphere; it’s as if the past has come to life.

Set deeply in his ways, Leo kills, tortures, captures and interrogates for his beloved home country. However, as there can be no murder in paradise, the MGB and Militia do anything they can to forget these events and pretend as if the murders do not exist. But with Leo’s morals thrown into a place they’ve been to before, it’s up to him to solve these murders- whether in favour from the state or not.

With Leo and his wife on the other side of the law, he must do everything within his minimal, power to solve the deeply distressing mystery- for him and his wife; the mysteries are just too close to home.

This book was the most suspenseful, tense, thought provoking, mysterious, relentlessly gripping, action packed thriller I have ever read! I could not put the book down; I had theories and conspiracies about the story and the deeply engrossing plot about the dark and mysterious background of these characters. It was ingeniously and perfectly plotted, thrilling and intense. I was caught in every single twist at every turn, and it never failed to capture my imagination. I could see the book and its plot fan out before my eyes.

I cannot recommend this book enough and I hope that you too -once reading- will have thought that this book was one of the most sensationally remarkable plotted books ever!

It will grab you by the collar with both hands!
