Twickenham Stadium is the home of English Rugby. It is the largest Rugby Union Stadium in the United Kingdom which holds England’s home test matches, the Middlesex Sevens, the Guinness Premiership final and many more matches. The Stadium seats 82,000 and attracts tourists from all over the World because of the number of exciting events that take place here. There are some positive benefits of the Stadium as it is used for matches, concerts, business networking and occasions such as weddings and parties. The Virgin Active Gym is in the South Stand of the Stadium which also attracts many members. The national governing body for rugby in England is the RFU who are based in Twickenham Stadium and work will local Boroughs.

However, even though there are positive aspects to the Stadium, there are many disruptions to the local community. Such as road closure and parking restrictions. Due to the number of pedestrians around the Stadium, many roads are closed 1.5 to 2 hours before the event. This causes problems with the buses as their routes through Twickenham must divert. As well as this, there are parking restrictions which means that residents must park down side roads with a permit. Additionally, to those who live near the Stadium, there are disruptions due to the noise from the crowds and the Stadium itself. Another reason that Twickenham Stadium is bad for the community is because of the amount of litter that is left on the streets by the crowds. Rubbish such as bottles, cups and food are left on the floor and even in people’s front gardens. There is also a significant amount of people that urinate and get sick outside people’s houses. Overall, Twickenham Stadium has its benefits to the community. It is a great tourist attraction, it is a big venue for many events and it a good workplace for employees. But Twickenham Stadium must do something to help the residents and reduce the disruption; if this is through more parking or less road
