This is what you'll hear when you walk down the corridors of not only my school but practically all schools around the country.

Now, why is it that whenever I am asked if I am a feminist - I have to promptly justify myself & my ideologies? Yes, dear reader I am indeed a feminist. But, since when did being a feminist equate to being a man-hater and intent on world domination?

Let me breakdown several myths the public tend to hold about feminism. Firstly, feminism has become associated in recent years with a few individual forceful & hateful women nicknamed "feminazis" however these individuals have nothing to do with the feminist movement. Feminism and misandry are not one and the same & are two completely different things. Secondly, many people fear that feminism will mean that men willl eventually lose out - of power, influence, impact, authority, control & economic opportunties as well as feminists wnating to control the world and put men down. This very simply isn't the case because feminists only want equality between women and men.

I understood the current situation between feminists and a majority of the public. But, I can't help feel that the sentiment is wrongly is based upon misinformation.

Of course, there is no set definition for what a feminist is, however it is my opinion that if you believe in equality between men and women. Then in my regards, you are a feminist.
