Every film fan enjoys the time of year when the Oscar celebration comes around. All the best films and actors compete for victory. This year the Oscars were very tight with several great films and performances all with a lot of support behind them. There were many categories with many nominations. Categories included best picture, actress, actor, supporting actress, supporting actor, director, original screenplay, adapted screenplay, animated feature, foreign language film, documentary feature, original score, original song, production design, costume design, cinematography, visual effects, make-up, sound editing, sound mixing, film editing, animated short, documentary short, live action short. Each category consisted of 5 nominations and one winner.

The winner of the best picture category was won by “Green Book”, best actress was won by Olivia Colman, best actor was won by Rami Malek, best supporting actress was won by Regina King and the best supporting actor was won by Mahershala Ali. The winner for best director went to Alfonso Cuaron, best original screenplay went to the film “Green Book”, best adapted screenplay went to “BlackKKKlansman”, and best animated feature was given to “Spider-man: into the spider-verse”. The winner of best foreign language film went to “Roma”, best documentary feature went to “Free Solo”, best original song went to “Shallow” from “A Star is Born” and best original score went to “Black Panther”. The winner of best production design and best costume design went to “Black Panther”, best cinematography went to “Roma”, best visual effects went to “First Man” and best make-up went to “Vice”. The winner of best sound editing, best sound mixing, and best film editing was “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The winner of best animated short was “Bao”, best documentary short went to “Period. End of Sentence” and best live action short was given to “Skin”.

The Oscars this year were full of emotions and excitement. The competition this year was very strong with single films winning many awards. Films such as “Black Panther”, “Roma” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” all won several different categories. Now the wait begins for more outstanding films and the journey to the next Oscar celebration next year.
