The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street is a unique public space that spans three storeys and offers 360 degree uninterrupted views across the City of London. Visitors can wander around the exquisitely landscaped gardens, observation decks and an open air terrace of what is London’s highest public garden.” – Sky Garden

Sky Garden makes up the top three floors of the famous ‘Walkie-Talkie’ building in the City of London, the 5th tallest building in the City of London at 160m in height. The 35th, 36th and 37th floors have a large viewing terrace, a bar and restaurants which are open to the public to enjoy.

The city skyscraper was designed in 2004 by Rafael Vinoly, a well-renowned Uruguayan architect, accomplishing the aim of making the attraction a display of modern and urban architecture. The landscaped garden was designed to create a unique place for leisure that offered the public the opportunity to experience the city from up in the air for an exclusive experience. The terraces are filled with a variety of Mediterranean and South African plants, and this combined with the stunning views of the city spread below the tall glass windows contribute to a comforting urban ambience.

There is plenty of seating and much room to comfortably photograph the magnificent views and walk around to admire the city landscape. The gorgeous city extends outwards all around you, and there are helpful signs to help guide your viewing of the different famous buildings.

At sunrise, the views are spectacular thanks to the sun rise over the city spreading warm glows of oranges, pinks and fiery reds over the horizon. During the day the views are no less brilliant: cloudy, rainy, snow or sunny – the city always looks amazing from so high up. At sunset, the views are incredible because of the wild colours streaked across the sky. Last but definitely not least, the view at night is just made exquisite by the magical twinkling of hundreds of lights from buildings that look comparatively so small yet so far away. The blowing of the wind on the open-air viewing terrace simply makes this experience that much more exhilarating.
