East London side, Leyton Orient, remain league leaders after a comfortable home win over 20th placed, Maidstone United.

The visitors started the game tenaciously, creating a variety of chances through striker, Jake Robinson, without any reward.

However, as the game progressed, Leyton started to gain control of the game, with their first goal coming in the 34th minute from a deflected goal by fullback, Maguire-Drew.

Orient forward Macauley Bonne, squandered a great opportunity at the end of the first half after a fantastic ball from Charlie Lee. This mistake was rectified in the 57th minute, after Bonne doubled the O’s lead, slotting in a close range effort from a corner – ending his three game goal drought.

The crowd were rewarded with a few chuckles as a squirrel caused a temporary stoppage after it embarked on an ambitious run down the right flank before being ushered off by Leyton goalie, Dean Brill.

The Game was finished off after Macauley Bonne put away the third goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time, placing the prolific striker on a total of 20 goals for the season.

This win puts Orient 3 points clear of second place Salford, who drew 1-1 against Gateshead the week previous.
