Is London really as bad as the media makes it?

London is populated with over 8,787,892 people, and it is constantly in bad media. Every day at least one news story is about London and most of the time it isn’t all that great. It is apparently the third worst city to live in in the world, but why? Is it the constant killings? Is it the people? London is not even in the top 50 cities that have the highest murder rates, yet London is made out to be such a horrific and horrible place. There are beautiful places in London that people never talk about in the media, it is always the bad that they focus on. Big newspapers like The Sun and The Daily Mirror specifically really do not show the good side to London, both newspapers did a front page article on the stabbing of a 14 year old boy in east London, but when Waltham Forest celebrate receiving the London Borough of Culture award, they didn’t even do an issue on it.

In a recent article The Sun did on a state school in east London about the students being able to get into Oxbridge schools, they focus on the negatives but try to make it sound positive. They say “amid the poverty-blighted urban sprawl of East London and “For two thirds of Brampton’s sixth form, English is a second language and half get free school dinners.” Presenting London in such a bad manner. In my own opinion, I think London has the very good and the very bad, like every other city in the world. And there are places that are great to visit and not so great to visit, but again just like every other city in the world.
