School Governor of Bexley
Brendan Hollyer has been a School Governor since 2002 and has worked in many schools within the Bexley Borough. He uses the skills he has to support schools to make them the best they can be.
School governors are volunteers who help run schools in the borough. Governors help make big decisions about the school's long-term goals as well as being involved in managing budgets, supporting staff and setting standards of school discipline.
Mr Hollyer’s experience in finance is useful in helping to improve and challenge schools. It’s certainly shown in how well the schools are doing that he’s worked with. Being a Chair of Governors for primary schools takes on a lot of responsibility.
In an interview with Mr Hollyer, I asked what he hopes to see come out of being a Governor. His response was,
“I hope that I can be a part of overall school improvement, that will lead to providing the very best life chances to the children and young people in our schools.”.
I am sure Mr Hollyer’s efforts will lead to improvements for the life choices for pupils in schools and for the benefits of his work. Brendan Hollyer captures what it means to be a School Governor and the differences it can make within the community.
