Waltham Forest has become the first London Borough of Culture and to mark this, a three-day celebration, took place in the Town Hall, Forest Road, and Lloyd Park, where more than 70,000 people came.

It was an incredible way to celebrate our unique and culturally diverse borough with phenomenal lights, music, stories, dancers, entertainers - and fire! There were hundreds of families enjoying the extravaganza " Wow! Just wow! Waltham Forest, you really made us proud! I loved the performers as well, they were so talented. Thank you to everyone who organized this all. It has really made a big change in our community! "- Tai Pireon.

In my opinion, it was truly perfect. An exciting, creative, engaging evening of art, culture, community and full of liveliness. It was not at all of what I had expected and I was completely blown away! I loved the wide smiles that the parents and children had on their faces.

There are many more celebrations in Waltham Forest to look forward to such as Atomic 50 taking place on the 1st to 30th of April 2019 at the Leyton Sports Ground, for 7 to 11-year-olds to explore the metalwork legacy of Waltham Forest in an imaginary metalworking factory. Tickets are £5 per participant so book yours now! Another event to anticipate for is Art Night, a free art festival that puts stunning art into extraordinary locations. The event is on the 22nd of June 2019 from 6 pm until late. All these organised events are helping us further explore our differences in cultures and explore the diverse people in our wide community.
