Was Aquaman a revival of the DC Universe? It has caused mass speculation on the future of the DC universe as it was considered as the “ revival” of its near dying industry. Competing with marvel productions of the latest film venom, Aquaman raked in a significant $1.063 billion as a result of its success. Forbes magazine has regarded it as a antidote of film superhero history by stating it will “Reshape the Dc universe”.

The film consists of an of an all star cast ranging from legends of the silver screen such as Willem defoe ( who played the green Giblin in Spider-Man) and Adolph Lundgren( the iconic Ivan dragon from the Rocky Series) to newcomers such as Game of thrones own Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa and ex wife of Johnny Depp, Amber heard. The mix of the cast shows that the movie explored different angles of acting by intergrating Experienced celebrities to a fresh new mind of actors.

However fans fear that this was just a spontaneous, one of a kind film made by the Dc universe as it still lacked consistency to the comics. Having to compete with Stan Lee’s Marvel franchise who release a new film every year as part of project “phase 4”. The dc universe is casted into the shadow as it lacks humour and the Flair the marvel universe possess. Another factor of fear that Aquaman will not precede into bringing its  universe any hope is due to the fact that it’s  own director may not return. James wan hasn’t stated he might not return for Aquaman 2 , which has left audience members into disarray as they feel the new director may not live up to the expectations Wan set out to achieve. Fans have compared the new DC franchise as box office flops since a Batman Vs Superman as it hasn’t no gritty sense of realty like the Christopher Nolan Dark kNight Series had.

That being said , it is left to the production team to decide the oath that ensures fan appeasement. So was Aquaman a hint of new successful arrival  sir was it just a spontaneous success?
