Many people use drones nowadays, for recreational or for other reasons, but some people have use them to disrupt other people, and cause hassle to them. On the 8th of January, the planes to and from Heathrow airport were brought to a halt due to the commotion caused by the drone, and this single drone delayed many people by more than an hour. Not too long ago, a similar event had happened at Gatwick Airport, and also caused a disturbance there which also disrupted the arrivals and departures, and caused a lot of frustration to many of the passengers, who also had to wait for more than 36 hours to resume their journeys, and were not very pleased about the incident in either case. In the first case, Gatwick airport has responded to the nuisance of drones by stating that it had spent over 5 million pounds to prevent another such incident happening again with the drones, as it cost them valuable time and their passengers too. Heathrow airport has also responded to this nuisance of drones intervening with flight times by confirming that it would be buying defence systems to guard against drones, and these defence systems should now prevent drones from interfering with the flights. Another precaution that has been taken to prevent these problems from occurring is that the police have been given the authority and the power to tackle the use of drones in illegal ways, such as by using them in airports. These incidents have not so much as scared passengers, but more annoyed them, as one of the passengers at the Heathrow airport incident said that the police should “Just shoot drones down”, which expresses how irritated many people have become due to waiting for hours on end just because of a single drone.
