I wouldn't call myself a massive movie fan, but I can enjoy a good film when I see one. I also would consider myself a bit of a Marvel nerd, with my favourite hero being Spiderman, so it's fair to say when I walked into my local cinema, to see the newest film ‘Spiderman; into the Spider-verse’ I was expecting bad things. I assumed this movie would be another carbon-copy of the 50 spiderman movies that has come before it, but I could not have been more wrong.

First of all, the animation style is unlike anything i’ve seen before. It is the first animated Spider-man movie so I had my doubts from the beginning. However, it perfectly captures the feel of the original comics - all of the various comics from the years- and yet seamlessly incorporates all of their styles. The end result is completely unique and visually stunning- i’d recommend it to all based on the beautiful cinematography alone.

As well as the visual style being completely unique, the story line itself is enthralling and unlike any of its predecessors. It follows Miles Morales, a young Spider-man yet not the Peter Parker we all know and love, and is set in a shared multiverse dubbed the ‘Spider-verse’. It is creative and refreshing, and with the combination of all the characters (beloved Spider-men and villains from every universe) there is something for everyone.

I urge everyone to go see this masterpiece- whether you're an avid Marvel fan or not this movie has something special everyone can enjoy.
