Guilty or not guilty? That is the question!

On Saturday 24th November 10 students from Carshalton High School for Girls took part in the Bar Mock Trial competition. Students from all corners of England gathered in Inner London Crown Court to embark on an experience of a lifetime.

‘The bar mock trial helped me gain a sense of admiration and understanding for the legal system. I was honoured and delighted to take part as a member of the jury and had a wonderful time’ Jess MT The day was split into three rounds, whereby each school, in turn, competed against one another. Case 1 was Forrester vs R. This consisted of the defendant Blair Forrester being trialled for suposedly throwing acid with intent to cause bodily harm. Case 2 was Martin vs R, whereby a young naive student was tricked into laundering money into foreign bank accounts.

With a real judge, a real jury in a real court pressures were certinaly high! However coming out on top and taking 1st place in the competition was King Edwards VI. Their performance throughout the day was flawless and you could see the amount time they'd put into the competition. Congratulations King Edwards on your well desevred win.

With the Bar Mock Trial 2018 now over, we are all left kean and excited for 2019s competition.
