How many people stop what they're doing and have a think about animals? Not many. Now how many people ever stop and think about penguins? Not many either. What penguins go through every single day to survive is absolutely amazing. I was watching a documentary when I came across the interesting pregnancy of penguins, in the autumn penguins begin the cycle of pregnancy. When it's time for the mother penguin to pass the egg to the father penguin, they have to make sure they do this extremely fast or else the egg could freeze. When I was watching the penguins getting to know each other and developing a strong bond they wouldn’t separate even when other female penguins came to disrupt the bond of the two penguins which have already bonded strongly, it made me think about how strong human bonds are. While all the father penguins where keeping their egg warm the mother penguin set of on a long walk to the ocean to get food. During this time was a very hard and upsetting time for the father penguins. The weather conditions where terrible, snow storms, strong wind for weeks on end. When the storms passed over another storm couldn’t come fast enough, but while the sky was cloud free you could see the devastation of what the storm had brought. There were eggs laying around the ice showing you that some father penguins had been beaten by the storm, in another case there was a father penguin that have been killed by the storm. It just shows you what penguins go through and what they have to do to keep their species alive. when the mother penguins returned it was upsetting to see them come back to nothing when they should have come back to hatched egg. It's incredible to see the life cycle of penguins and to not forgot the harsh conditions they suffer all the time.
