During December, The Norwood school will be holding it’s annual Norwood factor event. It’s an incredible night filled with lots of beautiful singing and a bit of dancing from students from the school who have a passion/love for performing vocally. It’s like the Xfactor but you can’t watch it on tv and it ranges from year 7 upwards. This will be the schools eleventh year of putting this show on and each year it gets better and better with more and more people racing to audition. Also, the winner of the show will receive an ipod, what a great reward for the contestant’s hard work. Furthermore, the contestants will be mentored by a teacher in the school of their choice; they will give them guidance on what to do, how to better their performance and also create flyers, badges or posters promoting their act.

I had an interview with two of this year’s finalists; Gabrielle Coates and Faith-Lyn Hay who have both auditioned in the past. Gabrielle stated that ‘the first audition wasn’t very planned’ as she was uncertain about doing it but in the end she did and went through the second stage. At this part in the competition she decided to go into a duo with faith-Lyn where they both sang rolling in the deep which brought them to the finals.

She then went on to day that choosing a song for the finals has been difficult as they are struggling to find an upbeat song, they both like. Faith then said that the audition process was relaxed and a bit nerve racking but I felt at ease as i only had to perform in front of the teachers and sixth formers. She then went on to day ‘I feel like it’s better work with someone else as you get to other people’s ides not just your own.’ Finally, they both finished the interview by saying they enjoy working together as they think alike and like the ideas they come up with.
