Earlier this week, Tesla had donated two electrical mini-cars to Darent Valley Hospital for children, who are undergoing treatment, to drive to the theatre.
The famous automotive company are in the process of gifting miniature versions of Tesla Model S cars to several hospitals and hospices, with the intention of spreading sweet smiles to unwell faces. Currently, according to the Tesla Owners Group website, they have been funded for an additional 63 cars. These cars are manufactured from donations made by various individuals and businesses with each car costing £664.

Recently Tesla has donated two to Willow Ward in Darent Valley Hospital, the district general hospital in Dartford. Many of the hospital staff were delighted by this thoughtful act and thrilled to see how it would help their patients. Both a parent and a theatre staff that were interviewed said they were so grateful and was unable to withhold their excitement and delight.

According to Darent Valley Hospital’s Facebook post and their website: “We can’t wait to see the faces of our young patients at Darent Valley Hospital (DVH) when they are given the option to drive themselves to theatre!”

In addition, Darent Valley Hospital has also created a small pamphlet for children who need to visit the hospital. It consists of clear photos of particular procedures helping them to be prepared and not overwhelmed. Some have stated that it would help young children to feel more comfortable in a tense environment; especially as going through an operation can be truly frightening. It is vital for children to be brave, subsequently driving a car replica would not only be amusing but also a form of encouragement as they are ‘making their own way there’.

Darent Valley Hospital would hopefully use these special gifts from Tesla to bring a change to children’s perception of operations. Even a very slight gesture of generosity can help to inspire others to take difficulties with ease.
