Philip Pullman's Grimm tales, adapted for stage by Philip Wilson and directed by Kristy Housley is as Philip Pullman states ' for Young and Old'. Currently showing at Unicorn theatre, from the 13th of November to the 6th of January, it explores not only Phillip Pullman's tales of adventure and magic but also the family bound and the unconditional love of parents as well the secret love between siblings.

Seven actors merge from their initial characters of family members and eventually into their fairy tale positions exploring tales of all natures from Hansel and Gretel's sibling's bound to Hans-my-hedgehog's more humorous theme. Guy Rhys, mostly known for his role in the film ' Mary Queen of Scots'(working title/universal)  as well as his recent performance in Mrs Dalloway at the Arcola Theatre, played various roles from king to child throughout the production all alike to his fellow performers Vera Chok, David Emmings, Rachel Hosker, Giulia Innocenti, Enoch Lwanga and Bryony Miller.

Although the production may appear to have been directed at the younger generation due to this sitcom humour and child like themes, it is well fitting for all,  proven by the parent's delight and joy experienced through watching the production. It provides a modern representation of family and love creating a nostalgic atmosphere for all despite age or background and may even go as far as motivate the end of dispute between family due to the immense love and understanding it portrays. A real ‘Christmas special’.
