On Saturday 18th November, Blackheath and Bromley Harriers athletes all gathered at the Bromley Civic Centre to receive their commendable award. Many athletes were rewarded for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport as well as excelling at competitions.

Around 150 people attended this highly enjoyable night with many awards being handed out. The guest of honour was the one and only Serita Solomon – the European Indoor 60 metre hurdles bronze medallist and World Indoor finalist. With such a motivational speech about how she overcame her major injuries, Ms. Solomon left each and every one of us in the room with such respect for her and she received a huge applause.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the food hall where they enjoyed the bar and a variety of small foods. Emily Kerr, a talented young athlete who received an award at the ceremony claimed, “It was so inspirational to be around all the talented athletes.”

There was a positivity in everyone and it was a well enjoyed evening for all.
