Be your own future, this was the message that was most noticeably echoed to us throughout Debden Park High School’s Sixth form Open Evening on the 16th November. From the advice on further higher education and careers to presentations on future sixth form life, it was a very memorable evening.

Even from the start of the evening, it was clear that this Open Evening was going to be the most successful. With over 900 people attending including over 100 external students this was certainly the case.

With over 20 subjects on offer, there was no lack of choice. All of these subjects were showing off their different aspects. With live debates in Politics and memory experiments in Psychology. There were many A-level teachers around ready to answer multiple questions from enquiring parents. There was a sea of pamphlets outlining the various BTEC and A-level subjects on offer.

Mr Simm, Director of the Sixth form, said: “We were so pleased with the number of future applicants who came to see all the amazing lessons and enrichment opportunities we have on offer here at Debden.”

Although, Debden is a relatively new sixth form with the two full years of A-level results behind us. However, with passionate teachers and diligent students - this is not a cause for concern but more to celebrate because it has come so far in such a short of period time.

To conclude, the Debden Park High School’s Sixth form Open Evening was a resounding success with information shared and the building blocks of our futures created.
