It's the time of year where students have just settled in and now face exam season.

Revision cards, highlighter pens, and sticky notes adorned all over the room are some of the methods used by students to remember their notes.

Many students come to the dilemma of not knowing what the best revision technique is for them and stick to the simple written notes on revision cards. This is very difficult as it doesn’t work for all and you will never know unless you experiment. So, try new techniques and see what works best for you. Don’t do as others say as it may not be as effective for you. Try to work for short bursts of time, for example, working for 25-minutes, taking five-minute breaks each time.

The most significant part of your educational journey is to understand you yourself as a learner. What type of learner are you? What learning style suits you? What do you find more effective and easier to understand? You can be a visual, verbal, audio or mechanical learner. You might benefit by listening to your notes or teaching someone else. Or seeing your note or picture which help you remember facts. Once you understand how to revise; the rest will come naturally. This is the key to success and will have you wanting to revise… you thought you would never say that, did you? You will understand your subjects and not dread revision or exams as you will be as prepared as ever! So, embrace exam season let it empower you and give you an opportunity to show off your revision tips and tricks.
